A Return to Sunday School (1/25)
It is our hope and plan to resume in person Sunday School classes at both hours beginning February 7.
Some classes will choose to remain virtual, but there will be an adult small group eager to have you join them in the study of the Word at either hour.
Classes for all ages of youth and children will also be resuming.
If you weren’t connected with a small group, take this restart as a sign you should really start! Find out more information on the Sunday School page, or stop by the Welcome Desk Sunday morning.
Contact your Sunday School teacher or the office with questions.
Midweek activities remain paused, with hope to resume in March.

As you know, we constantly find ourselves in the midst of an ever-changing season due to new challenges we face, seemingly daily. We are facing one of those times presently as there is the potential that the Coronavirus has made its way into our church building over this past week. Because of this potential, we are wanting to keep our staff – and all of you – safe from possibly coming in contact with this bug, so we are implementing some things that you need to know:
If you have a key and you sometimes drop by the church, we’re asking that you please avoid going into the building at all.
We are having our church building completely disinfected this week to kill any and all viruses that may be lingering there.
All of our staff are working from home and will not be in the offices this week, and possibly a little longer.
We may not be in the office but you can reach us through mpbclife.com/staff. There you will find email addresses as well as phone directory to reach our voice mail, both of which we are checking regularly.
If you have been dropping off your tithe (& we are so very grateful), be sure to either mail them to
3110 Greenwood Ave, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 or drop your envelope in the church’s secure incoming mailbox slot. Or you can give online at mpbclife.com/give.
Finally, this Sunday’s service will look a little bit different than previous weeks. We will have more information as the week unfolds, and for now, we still plan on worshiping with us at 11 am Sunday morning through mpbclife.com/watch or on our Facebook page, knowing it will be a little different.
Some things are changing, but some things are constant. We are praying for you, love you, and miss you all terribly. And we know that the Lord is on the throne, He is faithful, and He is still risen!
Pray for us as we continually seek the Lord’s guidance – that He would continue to give us wisdom and clarity for these difficult days. And just as we are praying for you to stay well, please pray that we stay well, too.
A word from Pastor Joe (4/2)
Our pastoral staff continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic around our world. Due to the regulations in place, we feel it’s best to cancel all church activities through May 9th. We understand the Governor put in a ‘stay at home’ order in place through June 10th, so we will continue to monitor that as we get closer to May.
On top of those activities, we feel it’s best to also cancel:
- All Wednesday Night (Spring Semester)- start back in the fall
- All 55+ trips and luncheons (including the Lancaster, PA trip in May)
- Summer Mission Trip
- Any activities of ministries from MPBC
- Office hours will be reduced
These continue to be difficult decisions to be made, but we desire to do our part in loving our community. Stay safe, be smart, and we’ll see you back here soon.
Live Streaming & Events
During this time of social distancing, we want to encourage you to join us as we live stream classes and events. We want to remind you that the church is the people, not the building. No matter where we are
we are as one- for His glory.
Pastoral Staff Update (3/24)
Due to the governor’s recommendation, we are canceling all church activities through Saturday, April 25th. We’ll continue to monitor this, and we long to come back together as a church family. With that said, our love for our community outweighs our need to be together. We’re here for you, praying with you, and can’t wait to be back together.

55+ Ministry (3/18)
We pray that you’ll stay safe during this time. If there are ways we can help you make sure you are prepared for our live stream please do not hesitate to call the church office.
Also, please be looking for Mike Burchard’s live Sunday School lesson through Glenice’s account at 9:30 on Sunday morning.
Thank you for understanding we are in uncharted territory, and pray along with us as we walk through this
For His Glory,
Dr. Andy Brockelman

Mount Pleasant Families,
In case you haven’t heard, Mount Pleasant is canceling all events, services, and meetings for the next 2 weeks. On Sunday mornings at 10:00, I will go live on our Children’s Facebook page to teach the Tabernacle lesson for that day and show some videos. I encourage your kids to watch so they can keep pace as we continue to work through the entire Bible in chronological order. I will also send you a weekly email with resources to use at home.
At 11:00 each Sunday morning, Mount Pleasant will stream live on Facebook with worship and preaching. I hope your families will watch this together and/or meet with a small group of people to watch in a home together.
**You do not need a Facebook account to watch these live events. Just click the Facebook link to access our children’s page and/or main church page.
During this time of not meeting together, I would love to be able to FaceTime or video chat your children to see how they’re doing. I do not want to lose touch over this, so expect me to schedule some video chats over the next few weeks (if you’re okay with that, of course).
For the parenting seminar, I plan on sending those videos via email, as long as I get permission from Paul Tripp. The videos have already been paid for and will no longer be able to be accessed after March 31st, so that’s why we can’t just postpone it to another date. However, he just did another parenting seminar and I expect that we will purchase those and show them here at a later date.
Please know that during this time, I am still here for y’all and ready to serve. We’re trying to do our part and I would be happy to meet via FaceTime, phone call or Skype… and of course, I can meet in person if none of those work. I am praying for you and your family and I can’t wait for the day when we gather back in the Lord’s house for corporate worship! Until then, make the most of the time you have been given. Disciple your children daily and continue to point them to Jesus. I love y’all and you are in my prayers.
For His Glory,
- Our stream will go live at 11:00 am. Pastor Joey will welcome you to the stream, as we continue our “Pillars in Place” series.
- Sermon notes are available in a PDF to be printed at home or in an interactive format using the MPBCLife App.
- As always, the service will remain on our Facebook page to view at a later time. The sermon will also be posted on our website.
- We will make avenues for giving as easy as possible. To contribute to the mission and ministries of MPBC through tithes and offerings, you can give online here
We want to make sure that you are completely informed, so stay tuned as more comprehensive updates will take place later in the week.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call us. Please bear with us and pray for us, as we are praying for you during this time.
May we constantly remember that our hope is found in Jesus.
